Search and rescue teams found the body of 49-year-old hiker Michael Charles Low in a crevasse Sunday, according to Whistler Pemberton RCMP.
It's expected the body will be recovered Monday when crews have adequate light, said Staff-Sgt. Steve LeClair.
Low left for an overnight hike on Friday, Oct. 23 and was headed toward the Keith Flavelle hut located near the headwaters of Cerise Creek east of Pemberton along the Duffey Lake Road.
A search began Sunday morning for the overdue hiker when he failed to return as planned. He had a date to meet friends for dinner, but when he didn’t show, friends became concerned.
Police discovered his white 2002 GMC Safari van Saturday night in the parking lot at the Cerise Creek trailhead.
The BC Coroners Service will be responsible for determining cause of death.
