Drumming and Journey Workshop with Nataraj Wednesday September 3rd 6:30 - 8:15 pm $35.00 per person – call Utopia to pre-register Please bring a drum or rattle Since humans first banged two rocks together, humankind has been using the drum in ceremony and ritual as a means by which to gather in community. Historically, evidence of drumming has been found in every culture in existence. It is a powerful healing tool and a bridge to Spirit. In Shamanic work, drumming and journeying are intrinsic and fundamental art forms employed by the Ceann-iuil or Shamanic Practitioner to create union with the subconscious in order to receive guidance and wisdom. This workshop will teach the basic understanding of working with a drum in a Shamanic way and its connection to the process of journeying. Additionally, each drummer will journey to their own personal Spirit Animal which will act as a guide for subsequent journeys and create a spirit connection to primal and innate wisdom. This is an opportunity for people to gather in community and share their journey experience and insights in a safe, supported and sacred way. Nataraj is an Initiated Ceann-iuil Pathfinder in the Wolven Path Tradition currently undertaking the Traditional Eldership journey. He works as a Peer Support Worker with the mentally ill and substance dependent in group settings as a mentor and guide sharing his lived experience with these challenges. He is a meditation and Ascension teacher and has completed his studies as an Addictions Careworker through McMaster University. Nataraj achieved a BSc in Forensic Science in 2006. He is also an Aoghair, a licensed minister, in the SCGMSS (Sacred Circle of the Great Mystery Shamanic Society) and a Director on the SCGMSS Board. Nataraj aspires to bring ancient healing modalities such as Shamanic Practice and meditation, self-responsibility and self-care into clinical and private settings, in order to support the conscious release of clients’ old patterns and programs and to provide a compassionate setting for healing and integration.
